All Things

All things are immanent

Time is an all-consuming fire
In which dwell Moses and the Prophet
I have seen light shine on their faces
And heard the voice of God

     How does one house Leviathan?
Shall we erect three shrines for the blessed?
Shall I encamp for a week in an olive-branch bower?

I have stood on holy ground
Yes, here is one in whom God is well pleased
Let a double share of that spirit fall on me

Who shall join Elisha in the apostrophic harvest
To lead this final ingathering of the chosen?
Shall it be our half-dozen duos of dimwits
     Joined at the ever-jabbering lip
The six brace of brotégés and the glorified three?

All things are immanent

And long have been, and shall be
All things burn, and shall continue to burn
We have entered the fire
And are not consumed

As I am, Moses was
And Elijah is
Jesus shall be

Forever

One Response to All Things

  1. Greg Wright says:

Peter is taken aback on the Mount of Transfiguration (from Matthew 17). It’s easy to mock Peter from the distance of 2000+ years. But his instincts toward enshrinement are pretty sound for an aspiring Good Hebrew. There’s a lot that he really does “get.”

    Also see 2 Kings 2:9.
