The Shoes of a Fisherman

I rise each day with anger
Gird my loins with her, bathe with her, and bed her down
I dare not give her to God

If I can’t keep pace with peace
How on Earth do I expect to soar with eagles
How in Hell walk like Jesus?

The shoes of the carpenter
Limn a path toward a Roman tree–O pray for him
Yes, pray for him, and for me

One Response to The Shoes of a Fisherman

  1. Greg Wright says:

With a nod to Jeremiah 12.

Peter’s final “Hebeku.” Peter hears Jesus words about where His road leads, and ponders what others might see from his POV — were they to walk in his shoes.

As I pondered what Peter might pondered, I asked the question of myself, and projected it into Peter. I wrote this October, but was working on it through September — a season of a lot of anger.
