The world of computers is
governed by the hexadecimal,
where the count of finger
and toes is expressed as 1416.
Imagine an alternate universe
defined by π,
The geometric constant—no longer
written 22 over 7,
No longer some infinitely nonrepeating
fractional multiple
Of “one,” the extended pontifical
human index,
But now the fundamental base unit
measuring all things.
We would then have roughly pi fingers
on our hands.
And computing a circle’s area?
Child’s play.
What we may grasp is limited
by our digits.
