Waves of alternatives
wash at my sleepiness.
Have my eggs poached
for breakfast, I guess.
~ Roger Taylor
I’m the decider.
~ George W. Bush
In the Land of Indecision
shortstops do not field grounders.
They ponder instead which foot
is the best to put forward.
In the Land of Indecision
it’s really just as well
since the men at the plate
rarely swing at a pitch.
Which is also just as well
since the men on the mound
can’t decide between fastballs
or curves, beanballs or sliders.
Let’s not talk about lineup cards.
And in the stands the fans
agonize over sliders and brats,
lagers and IPAs, Coke and Pepsi.
Yet in this curious land
the poetic still find words
to describe these scenes.
You see, we are the deciders.
